GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and it is a new data protection law in the EU, which comes into force in 25 May 2018. It will replace the data protection directive (Directive 95/46/EC) of 1995.
GDPR will strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union. Moreover - it will apply also to non-EU companies that offer services or goods to residents within the EU. Read more about changes GDPR brings!
Fines for non-compliance are though: of up to €20 million or 4% of global annual turnover, whichever is greater!
